Kingston, Jamaica – As part of the celebration and recognition of Easter, on Sunday April 20, the Pocket Rocket Foundation distributed over 400 packages of the traditional Jamaican bun and cheese across the Waterhouse community in Kingston and the Waterloo community in Ewarton.
Led by chairwoman of the Foundation, Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the Pocket Rocket team gave out some 300 packages in Waterhouse, Fraser-Pryce’s childhood home, and another 100 packages in Waterloo. Volunteers from the two communities also supported the initiative, helping to package and distribute the Easter packages.
Reflecting on the day, Fraser-Pryce emphasised the heart behind the effort,
“The annual Easter treat is part of the Foundation’s effort to continue its support for families across these communities. Easter is all about family, togetherness, and celebrating long standing traditions that make the season special.”
Local community leader Joan Pryce of Waterloo shared her gratitude:
“It means the world to us,” said Pryce. “The Pocket Rocket Foundation always shows up for our communities, and being remembered during Easter reminds us that we are valued and loved.”
The Easter outreach is part of the Pocket Rocket Foundation’s commitment to supporting families and building stronger communities through consistent, meaningful initiatives.
